Curious, I was just thinking that my whole life has been a waste. If there's anything to karma I likely just generated a heap of negative stuff. That is, I'm typing here... rather than going out and helping people. So off to hell.

Should have a test; a group of very smart folks who know zilch about runes and ask them to give their impressions of the stave's shapes. This, or runesters who haven't read anything contemporary about runes.

I never saw boundary issues with fehu (apart from the "put up your dukes" impression). Could be from reading but it seems akin to elhaz (apart from protection) , in a reaching out to receive bounty or blessing from a higher realm.

I like the primal fire idea (from that higher realm). Fire as akin to Manna in this case, imo. Don't forget my thing about the hebraic angels, with the first being Vehu-ah. What are the odds?

Uruz is like kundalini or simply earth energy - such as the Pillars of Shu which is pure earth/genic energy which emits from all planets etc.
We have two consecutive runes here dealing with energy which I find curious. That one is supposedly out of control may be conjecture. It almost seems they should be reversed. I think there's an author who opined that the futhark starts with uruz.

This duo may indicate something left over from the Perennial Wisdom. That it's more than mere mobile wealth and vitality etc. There are now scientists who see a creation physics in tarot. So perhaps there's something akin going on here. This has been my position for sometime.

Wouldn't it be nice to generate mobile wealth by risting fehu and singing some galdrar......

This would come in handy for if and when everything truly starts falling apart. We are almost there. Millions of dead fish recently washed up on California beaches. Now Japan's worst ever recorded quake/wave... we are entering into a window in which......

I will throw in here that Fehu to me, as material wealth, conjures up the symbol of a fence around a property, farmland if you like. There is a definite "this is mine, it belongs to me" that I feel from this Rune. A very material aspect and one that is too often focussed on in the capitalistic society. After all, wealth is more than possessions, it is the quality of life you lead, the quality of people you associate yourself with and the relationships you have. So, I guess I have touched on a negative aspect of Fehu here. Mind you, it is defined and ordered, there is a definite feeling of structure and boundaries. The primal energy of Fehu being the cow Audhumla could relate to primary resources - wealth from the earth herself, such as minerals, crops, etc. The natural environment that we live off and exploit.

As to Uruz, I feel a degree of untapped potential evident in this Rune. There is a definite beastliness and lack of control/chaotic element to the Rune but when the beast is harnessed, then it can be focussed and channelled for good use. There is so much strength and so much energy in Uruz but it is wasted when it is not used in an orderly fashion. Energy can dissipate and one can waste one's energy chasing after things that seem to be worth having or attaining but eventually there is the sense that you have wasted a lot of energy, even if you do achieve material wealth and/or success if you haven't found balance in your life. Also, that wild energy which is a quality of youth tends to dissipate when you get older and is not necessarily at your disposal anymore. This allows time to reflect and consider whether your pursuits were worthwhile and whether you perhaps wasted a portion of your life.

Thoughts to add;

But first I must say that I either forgot or never read that Uruz was associated with Nifelheim....

Ok, on the home page I mentioned possible kabbalistic thinking or influences incorporated into the runic system. So note we have the first stave as representing primordial fire; which reflects the kabbalistic model of the four worlds with fire at the top (closer to spirit or pick your term). So generally, according to many esoteric models fire is the first element. One might think it to be air......

One neat little coincidence I found was that the mystical system called Shemhamphoresh, or extended name of god, has it's 72 spirits; with the first being named...Vehuah. The ah is simply a suffix so we have Vehu. In german v is pronounced as fff. Coincidence?

Also, as many must know, the first letter in the hebrew row is aleph which means ox. Yet an Ox is in effect as castrated bull. So, according to some, this may imply some kind of sacrifice....as to mere mobile wealth.

This may also be related to the idea of Spirit, the "offering of", dying on the Cross of Manifestation. The Involutionary process of spirit/ether/light into matter.....and as we recall, it is first heralded via the Fire.

I'm not sure if this is the fire of the Holy Ghost. I do know that this is represented in the hebrew letter shin, meaning tooth. Yet this appears far down the kabbalistic Tree of Life (and goes back up the Tree).
But here, it's the same Source Light interacting with Itself throughout the multiverse.

But generally, in the more um quasi mundane sense, this seems to be related to the (biblical) concept of Mana.

Now note the stave's shape. It appears to be akin to elhaz; a person holding out the arms to receive (yet here it's more a devotion we think). That seems to be the feminine aspect! Other than this, there doesn't appear to be any further implications in the shape. Of course, unless some rules were lost along the way.

So, mayhaps it's the FFFF sound itself. FFFire. I saw one researcher making the connection here with the ph in aleph, both sounding similar.

So WTF is this FFFFFFFFF about? A FFFForce. THE First FFForce........

Perhaps. If I recall, Thorsson said this rune is to be used with others to better empower the whole. Now this makes sense in light of the above.

Thanks Elven. I think that quote contains much to think about in terms of what 'wealth' means in the context of the runes and the ultimate journey to wholeness.

"For each of us eventually, whether ready or not, some day it will come
to an end. There will be no more sunrises, nor minutes, hours, or
days. All the things you collected , whether treasured or forgotten,
will pass to someone else. Your wealth, fame, and temporal power, will
shrivel to irrelevance. It will not matter what you owned or owed. Your
grudges, resentments, frustrations, and jealousies will finally
disappear. So too your hopes, ambitions, plans, and
to-do lists will expire. The wins and losses that seem so important
will fade away. It won't matter where you came from or on what side of
the tracks you lived at the end. It won't matter if you're beautiful or
brilliant. Even your gender and color will be irrelevant. So what
will matter? How will the value of your days be measured? What will
matter is not what you bought, but what you built. Not what you got,
but what you gave. What will matter is not your success but your
significance. What will matter is not what you learned but what you
taught. What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion,
courage, or sacrifice that enriched, empowered, or encouraged others to
emulate your example. What will matter is not your competence but your
character. What will matter is not how many people you knew, but how
many will feel a lasting loss when you're gone. What will
matter is not your memories, but the memories of those that love you. A
life lived that matters is not of circumstance but of choice."

This article brought me another thought.

Under Futhark our necessities are fulfilled, we accept the supplies (Fehu) provided to us, meaning we accept that we are not alone on beginning our journey. We ask help either it is from our ancestors, Nature, Universe or God.

Majority of people dealing with Uthark, eg Dragon Rouge, belong to Left Path Systems. They begin with their own naked and primal self (Uruz) and they continue their journey . Pointing to the almost same targets as with Futhark, they owe their evolution to theirselves only.

Of course there are exceptions, like Meadows, whose shaman path does not belong to this category, but Uthark generally has a more "dark" feeling.

My question about Fehu and Uruz was answered in Uruz article, but after this article everything is various steps clearer.

Thanks Mahryan for sharing your thoughts.
